Yard Sale Finds

I stopped at a yard sale this morning and found some great clothes for my 4 year old.

Two pair of Gymboree shorts.
A Gymboree shirt and Adidas shorts.
A Cardinals shirt and another Gymboree shirt.
His favorite, a Disney Triceratops shirt.
$1 each for like new clothing. This is why I love yard sales! I have so much more fun searching for clothes at yard sales than at stores and I get much better deals. I also bought him a pair of Nike cleats for only $2 that he can't wait to wear to his t-ball games. I love a sale!

Coupon Fail

I was on the phone with Hubs yesterday, who just happened to be at Walmart while I was surfing my favorite coupons sites. I came across My Litter's post here about the great deal on Tostitos.

I told Hubs to go check out the chip aisle. Sure enough, our Walmart had Tostitos for only $1.98 with $1 peelies on each bag. He grabbed a couple of bags and was good to go.

So after dinner last night, I was unloading Walmart bags and found this. Notice anything peculiar?
Two bags of Tostitos with peelies still attached.

I asked, "Why didn't you use the coupons?"

His reply? "Dang it!"

Yard Sale Time

I am so excited it's Spring and time for yard sales! I think I love them more than coupons. Did I just say that?

Today I found some great things for my kids. I love buying books at yard sales. They cost next to nothing and are usually in great shape. I pick up the ones I know my kids will like. I found Bugs, Reptile and Lego Knights for only 10¢ each.
My 4 year old is really into Transformers now. 50¢ for a Transformer is awesome!
He is also obsessed with dinosaurs now too. I found this cute dinosaur shirt for only 50¢.
He can't wait to read this book about getting ready for kindergarten since just last night, we went to Kindergarten Round-Up to prepare for the next school year. Only 25¢!
My boys both love anything to do with farms so I picked up two farm books and a dinosaur book for only 25¢ each.
The boys also love Bob the Builder. This book is in great shape and has 10 different stories inside. Only $1.
As if we don't have enough toys, but the boys are all about vehicles. Two Hot Wheels car haulers for only 50¢ each. One for each of them will hopefully take care of any arguing. Who am I kidding? It won't.
My one year old loves Monster Trucks, which are $4 each at Walmart. These two are like new and I only paid 50¢ each!
We can never have too many blocks around here with my little builders. My 4 year old was extra excited because he said, "We have some like this at school!" Only $2.
He also loves working in workbooks and playing school. He missed school so much just over Spring break, so I know these will come in handy over the summer. The big one was only $2 and the smaller one only 25¢.
I was so happy to find this! Like I said, last night we went to Kindergarten Round-Up where the teachers told us our kids would need a rest mat for school next fall. I found this brand new, still in the package at a yard sale this morning for only $2! I love, love, love yard sales!

Underwear Deal

I found boy's underwear on clearance at Walmart this morning. These were regularly $8.50 each, but on clearance for only $3 each. I picked up a couple packs that will fit my son now and a couple packs of bigger sizes to save as he grows into them. Underwear score! I was so excited I called Hubs, who was clearly not as excited as I was about my underwear find. His loss.

Too Much?

My Litter has a great post 'Can you have too much?' about going crazy with coupons. Go here to check it out.

It can be exciting at first getting great deals for little to no money and some people do go overboard. I only buy what I know my family of 6 can consume before it goes bad. I see no reason to have 100 bottles of shampoo or 300 razors. I probably have 4 shampoos with 4 conditioners and enough free razors to last this year. I won't have to buy either for quite a while.

The one thing I will keep buying no matter how much we have is toilet paper. If it's on sale or free, I will build a castle out of it in my living room if I have no more room to store it. Toilet paper in this house disappears in no time.

Like I've said before, if I get things free that we don't even like/use, I simply give them away. There are lots of people who are very appreciative of this.
